Why The Cubs?
Its a question I have been asking myself for my whole life. Why does this city love the Cubs so much more then the Sox. I am Sox fan, so you might think I'm just complaining about a lack of support, but if you think about it, why does this city love a team that losses most of the time. The Cubs havent won a world series in 100 years, the Sox have won two in that time period, and one in 2005. Maybe its because fans like the feeling of having hope for the next year, but wouldnt that make them Sox fans because the Sox have actually delivered recently. Maybe it's because the Cubs play on the Northside, and the Sox on the South, and people think the Southside is "dangerous," but its not, I have been to the park a lot of times, and I have never once felt scared. Whatever the reason, the Cubs are in the postseason this year and the Sox chances are looking good. If, miraculously, the two teams meet each other in the World Series, that the winner of the series will be considered the best team in Chicago, and the will will earn more respect from the other side of town. So dont feel bad Northsiders, when we are parading through your side of town.

Jeremy, I love this post. I am also a die-hard Sox fan (actually..my family has season tickets: front row, third base line). I don't understand why Cubs fans have such a bad attitude towards us. Why? Because we win a lot more than they do? Because we have better food at Comisky? (Or US Cellular I guess...). The only good thing the Cubs have going for them is their historic baseball field. That's it. Actually I like Comisky better anyways. So, as you said in your last sentance, Cubs fans: expect to see us parading through your side of town. Go White Sox!!
Cubs fans just have had it pretty bad for the last couple hundred years. No wins , getting hit in the head with bricks at their stadium. I have no Idea how the Cubs keep fans after losing for a hundred years.
I am a white sox also and I constantly am asking myself the same question. But I have faced the fact that Chicago is a Cubs town and this city loves its baseball. Although the Sox have been clearly winning more of late, for some reason the people of Chicago keep going back to the team that has constantly let them down time and time again.
